Celtics Add Depth with New Acquisitions
The Boston Celtics made it to the NBA Finals in the 2022-2023 NBA season, a major accomplishment. However, after losing to the Golden State Warriors 4-2 in the Finals, the Celtics are once again contenders for a championship this season.
New acquisitions
This summer, the Celtics signed Wenyen Gabriel in free agency. Gabriel is a 27-year-old power forward. He averaged 6.4 points and 5.2 rebounds in 22.1 minutes per game last season with the Sacramento Kings.
The Celtics also drafted JD Davison out of the University of Arizona with the 53rd overall pick in the draft. Davison is a 19-year-old point guard. He averaged 13.8 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.3 rebounds in 23.1 minutes per game last season with Arizona.
Player development
Jayson Tatum, the Celtics' star player, was one of the favorites for the NBA's Most Valuable Player award last season. Tatum averaged 30.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game, the best season of his career.
In addition to Tatum, Jaylen Brown was also one of the Celtics' key players last season. Brown averaged 24.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.
Season expectations
The Celtics are once again contenders for a championship this season. Led by Tatum and Brown, the Celtics also have a deep roster. Marcus Smart, Al Horford, Robert Williams III, and Grant Williams are all important pieces for the Celtics.
The Celtics will be competing for the championship in the Eastern Conference this season. After losing to the Golden State Warriors in the Finals, the Celtics are looking to win the championship this season and get revenge.
